Join us for Tomato Class–Learn 3 Ways to Preserve Fresh Tomatoes!

Nothing beats the flavor of home-grown tomatoes!  Even if you don’t have a garden, you have probably eyed those ruby gems at the farmers market and   wondered what to do with so many fresh tomatoes.

Well, we have some exciting news at Rock Lake Ranch! Our first Tomato Class (part of the new Rock Lake Ranch FarmSkills series) is now open for enrollment! This make-and-take class will give you three ways to preserve that fresh tomato taste all year long. Bring a friend and sample several varieties while you learn tips and techniques for using fresh garden tomatoes.

Using locally grown farm fresh tomatoes, Cindy Blake, of the nearby Triple Creek Farm and Ranch will guide you through your hands-on experience preserving tomatoes.

First, we will start with a tomato tasting.  Just like a Merlot or Cabernet wine, each tomato variety has its own characteristic flavor and texture.  Cherry, Roma, Beefsteak, and heirloom tomatoes – see for yourself which varieties work best for what purpose.  We will even give some ideas for what to do with green tomatoes.

Then we will discover three delicious ways to preserve and enjoy garden grown tomatoes. We have openings for the Thursday, June 15 morning class. Mark your calendars now and click below to reserve your spot for this hands-on workshop at the Rock Lake Ranch kitchen.

You will learn to:

  • Easily can tomatoes to lock in garden fresh taste
  • Prepare oh-so-sweet sun dried tomatoes
